Wicca/Paganism

There has been a lot of conversation on facebook, instagram, and other avenues lately about Paganism in Rochester. Some local clergy have begun speaking about some community events as we begin to safely re-open from our economic shut-downs. We have all missed gathering, so we are excited about the possibilities for our community. More to come soon!

Daughters of Gaia Naos is blessed to have so much diversity amongst the practices and experiences of its members. We are all learners and teachers, but one of our sisters is taking this to a new level! We started a series of workshops that correspond with our Esbat structure. Tonight was our first class and we had so much fun singing, laughing, sharing, and doing a little divination. Can't wait for the next class in December!

Once again, we have collected enough interest in offering a Wicca 1 class! We had so much fun in our first version, and developed some wonderful friendships. We will be offering a new session beginning in Fall 2021 for those interested in Daughters of Gaia Naos and beginning Wicca. We had a perfect day yesterday to celebrate the Solstice together. It was wonderful to be able to meet in person again, and we had a beautiful space amongst the trees by the lake. Although Daughters of Gaia Naos did not originally envision ourselves to be a teaching coven, we have been found of interest to many of our sisters who are new to the craft and/or solitary practitioners looking to practice with a group. In keeping with our mission of service to our sisters, we have developed a Wicca 1 class for these seekers. The course consists of lecture, discussion, group activities, independent reading, projects, and some quizzes. No high pressure exam

After meeting together for six months and hiving from the Mother Coven at the Harvest Moon, Daughters of Gaia Naos held our formal Initiation Ritual by the dark of the October New Moon. We cast circle together, and initiated each other into our new tradition one-by-one. The Founding Members are excited to walk in sisterhood along the path that the Goddess has laid before us.

Although postponed since May due to Covid-19, Daughters of Gaia Naos officially hived from the Mother Coven at the Harvest Moon, September 2, 2020. We want to thank everyone from The Coven of Sangha-Sho, Inc. for the warm hospitality and beautiful ritual, as well as for the support and fellowship over these many years.

We were finally able to hold our first "hybrid" ritual today. Coven members attended in person at a local park and, although we have been meeting online for several months, it was our first time meeting each other in person! We wore masks and socially distanced, but shared lots of laughs through the uniqueness of it all! We were also blessed to celebrate with friends and local High Clergy members who joined us online. We are so excited to get going! The formal hiving process from our Mother Coven is not yet complete, but we are holding our own rituals until then so every has a chance to get to know each other and our beloved Gaia. Of course we would prefer to meet in person at our Covenstead, but with the stay-at-home orders in place from Covid-19, we will be meeting online. This is also an opportunity for us to practice with the technology that we will will be using when a member must
